It is always advisable to use the peephole when someone is at the door to find out who that is and how safe it is to open the door for them.
Even when at home, ever keep the main door open. The hallways and other passages should always be well lit. Lookout for suspicious people outside. Home security alarm is a must have when it comes to home security especially apartment security.
Always even keep your windows locked when you are going out for a while or even when at home.
Keep the entry places like balcony, chimney, and other places safe with locking them when not home or even at home. It is always advisable to have your own home insurance in case something bad happens in the future.
